ain’t no party like a jay gatsby party cause a jay gatsby party ends in the dissolution of the american dream
so yada yada people are upset about Merida getting sexified and glitterfied , it upset me too
it peaked my interest so i looked up the rest of the redesigns
what.
the.
fuck.
pretty much every single redesign of all eleven princesses has them thinner and with more makeup and so much sexy hair i cannot
but this
mulan, tiana, and jasmine all have lighter skin. pocahontas isn’t as bad in that department but um HELLO do you see what she’s wearing? like wtf it’s worse than any ‘indian’ costume i’ve ever seen. racist stereotypes like woah.
these redesigns are just gross and i wish people would get just as upset about this as they do about merida
Mulan and Pocahontas kill me most
I saw a calendar with all the redesigns back at christmastime (so no Merida yet) and my friends didn’t understand what I was so fuckin pissed at
I understand the need to update designs for some of these disney princesses (considering that some either haven’t been updated recently or ever) but when every single princess is designed homogeneously (in terms of facial features, this specifically being more obvious with the white princesses) with tons of sparkles and glitter and ridiculous makeup (Pocahontas’ blush kills me) ALONG WITH the brightening of skin tones there’s a problem
I’ve talked to little disney princess fangirls who literally have sparkles on 75% of their clothes and several of them did not like the redesign because they didn’t really look like their original characters anymore and a lot of the redesigning contradicts what their personality would dictate on their style for the sake of marketing a shinier product
this is 10 million times not okay
I saw Star Trek: Into Darkness tonight and I finally sort of understood how someone might find Benedict Cumberbatch attractive but it was immediately after he had just gotten repeatedly punched in the face
Aha thank you dad for invalidating the core concepts of internalized misogyny as a social institution :) thanks for reminding me why I never talk to you about anything important to me ever
